*adaptation of video installation for the exhibition “Silence Is Deafness Here”

Spatial choice of projecting the videos in the corners of the room with cacophonic soundscape built by questions Who are you? What do you want? and What are you doing? is specifically made as a possible answer on the notion of immigration as leading thought of exhibition “Silence Is Deafness Here”. The idea of placing the three videos in the corners of the room is related to the integration experience of trying to become a part of some other or new living environment in terms of professional of “better life” goals but constantly having doubt or insecurity of being excluded from that same environment. It can be described also as an experience of being in common space with others but still always in the corner. Distorted video image which two corner walls makes it can be related to the idea of having a distorted picture of “the better place”. Sometimes the similar distortions can have the persons who are experiencing “state of a corner” and possible non-belonging, which opens different existential and identity questions among which are mentioned three.

This piece will be presented in the gallery Podroom at the Cultural Center of Belgrade from 4.07. to 25.7. within the exhibition, Silence is deafness here.
